FUROSHIKI YOUR SURVIVAL KIT

Bandanas (neckerchief), cloth in general, have many uses.  Put it in your survival kit and you’ll use it all the time.  Here are just a few of the top uses for the Woodsman…

  1. Signal
  2. Scarf
  3. Dust mask
  4. Hood (page 131 Camping & Woodcraft, Horace Kephart)
  5. Emergency rope
  6. Bandage
  7. Sling
  8. Tourniquet
  9. Water filter
  10. Sponge (dew collection)
  11. Potholder
  12. Washcloth
  13. Cold compress
  14. Bag…

And as a bag, most just fold up the corners and then you have to hold or tie four ends.

Here is a neat trick to eliminate all those ends and easily secure your contents.  It comes from the Japanese art of folding cloth, Furoshiki.  Check out how to do it in the video…
